Pool

At first we had no idea that the empty lot next door came with the home. The minute we discovered that it came with the house [at closing] we knew exactly what we were going to do with it – add a pool. That empty lot had been cleared by hand one summer, coincidently by our neighbor when we was a kid. It was cleared of all the brush, and only tall trees and grass remained – there was no fencing anywhere around the perimeter of the property or home. Dr. Frost had purchased the land apparently to avoid having an ugly traditional home being built next door to him. The open side lot was used by the deer as access to the neighborhood, and the kids used it as a shortcut on their walk home. Now it is our private oasis, where you can find us on almost any sunny day, and all day in the summer months.

2020

In 2020, we finally got around to adding into some stairs to link the house garden to the pool and garden. It was perfect timing as we were spending a great deal if time locked in our compound during a pandemic. It turned into the perfect place to socially distance with small groups of friends in the outdoors. This garden was our savior.

2017

We planned and organized for the pool to be installed during the summer 2016, and construction started May 1st 2017. See below some progress videos of the pool going in. We went with a local made fiberglass pool with salt water. It is 40 ft long and 13.5 feet wide, we installed an electric cover for safety and to make for easy cleaning. We worked with our landscape designer for pool placement and patio design. The stairs linking the pool to the house were delayed for another year, due to expense, and because we couldn’t make-up our mind of material and final design. They were added in 2020, when we were in a pandemic, and walled gardens were a thing of luxury and sanity under stay at home orders.

2016

We need to dig up some more photos of the yard before we started doing any work, like adding a pool and the fences.
